Little Things
There's a song that says "the little things kill". Oh - now I get it - it's the small and simple things that normally wouldn't be a big deal but when you put them all together, they can kill a day (or a week). OK - so Monday, as I'm home sick, Steve calls me and tells me that AmerCable is doing lay-offs again, but he's pretty sure he'll be ok. Well, there's no use in worrying since there's nothing I can do anyway. Fine. Moving on. Wednesday he calls and tells me that his truck stereo (brand new in April - stereo- not truck), started blinking, stopped playing and started smoking. Nice. Real nice. OK, so call the place that installed it and we'll see what we can do. Moving on, again. Friday - date night =-) haven't had a date with my husband in who know how long, so it's planned, dinner and movie. Guess what?!? He calls Friday morning and says I have to work until 7 tonight and all day both days this weekend. Nice. Though on the up side he is still working at this point. OK, fine. Oh, did I mention he was supposed to be Santa Claus for some friends who own a photography studio on Saturday. Ugh - AmerCable fixed that one too, thanks a lot. So, along comes Saturday, which has now been completely readjusted for me. Take the truck with it's non-functioning stereo along with 2 crabby boys to town to have it looked at. Of course nobody in the shop remembers talking to Steve earlier this week and so they aren't sure what to do. They decide to take out the stereo and see what they can do and will call me on Monday. Nice. Fine. So now I have a truck with NO stereo, a husband who's crabby because he's stuck working all weekend and hoping not to be laid off on Monday, a 13 year old who's crabby because his hunting trip appeared to be cancelled (but he did get to go), and a 9 year old who's crabby because I won't buy him the $15 thing he wants at Wal-Mart (hello? Chrismas?!? Duh). Fine, so, I go to the store Saturday evening come home, put a pork loin in the oven and sit down for some quiet time. What do my ears hear next? I can't describe it, but it was the sound that made my gut ache. My favorite pan just cracked. Yep, put my 9x13 pampered chef stonewear baker that over the course of 9 years has become seasoned to perfection, that has moved various times and survived, and has survived a Loggins house, and it CRACKED IN HALF. Fine. I quit. Can I have a day off from being me? Seriously?

Holiday Countdown - 1 week to Turkey Day!
Wow!! This year has been a quick one! Full of adventures, challenges, friends, our first real vacation....and the list goes on! No wonder I'm worn out all the time and no wonder the year has gone so fast!! My body told me "No" earlier this week and just quit for a while. I literally spent 3 days in bed, and for any who know me well, or even at all, know that I just don't do that!! Needless to say, I'm glad that's over!! And so, it's time now we turn our attention to the holidays. The madness and mayhem start with Turkey Day and end sometime after the first of the year when we all suffer from turkey and stuffing hangovers that we tried to nurse with pecan pie. We're all fat and sassy and no body has any money but generally has pretty cool new toys to play with instead. I'm thinking maybe somewhere in there we've missed the bus and forgotten what it's all about. Sometimes we remember, but sometimes we get "wrapped up" in the gifts and the decorations and the parties....OR - maybe I just feel this way because the pressure is on! It's time to be shopping and I have to help put on the Murphy Employee's Club Christmas party and I am realizing how little time we really have to get it put together!!! Oh how we need a craft store here - I'd take any of them, Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Jim Bob's Crafts, whatever! Any of them would be nice, but, no sense complaining - it is what it is and so we just do the best we can! At least they have taken the consideration to pipe the internet in along with the sunshine!!!! Yay for the small and simple things!!

I am the Mother of a what?!? T-E-E-N-A-G-E-R
Listen - do you hear that? I am certain that it's the sound of Taps playing in the background. Who died? Probably my sanity!! Yes, my oldest child is now a teenager, complete with a sassy mouth, an attitude, pimples and text messages that read like a caveman is typing from his end. Oh - did I mention that frequently the messages are to girls?!? Aaaahhhhhh!!!!!! Anyway, for 7th grade Pre-AP Science the kids were in groups and had to make movies. It was quite fun and interesting having 3 teenage boys around the house for a good weekend. Pranks were played at night and the severity of Mom's blondeness came out. Why is there a bowl of water next to Noah who's sleeping on the couch? Why is my shaving cream in the living room?......wait.....DAKOTA!! Oh I see - the water was once warm and Noah's hand was in it(and no, he didn't pee on the couch), and the little string of leather next to Noah and the shaving cream suggested a palm full of shaving cream and an itchy nose. Dakota of course played football again this year and so we had a lot of fun on many rainy Thursday nights. Football season is now over, and Mom is sad - oh how I miss it dearly already!! But next year is bound to be exciting!! My teenage baby is about 6' tall and weighs in at 185. Not so little anymore!
Lame
OK - so maybe the reason there are only 2 followers to this blog is due to the fact that I don't write very often! So - I'll apologize to both of you, though I suppose it's kind of lame to have a blog with 2 followers and a blogger that doesn't post very often. It might have something to do with the fact that I sit in front of a computer all day at work and don't have access to anything cool on the internet. Oh well, whatever! So this is the part where I promise to do better and we all just wait anxiously to see what happens!! In the past couple of months we've been quite busy! I was released as the YW President with much resistance on my part, and called to be the Relief Society 2nd counselor. I am adjusting and will admit that it's even getting fun! I know I love my new calling even though sometimes it doesn't show. We went camping over Labor Day with some great friends and so that was quite the adventure. I slept in a tent - YEP - I SURE DID!! I have slept in tents more this year than I have in my entire life - ever. And guess what?!? It hasn't been so bad!! Hmmm....who'da thunk it?!? I guess it proves that there is no telling what happens next!!!
